My son is a Spider-Man fan. I missed out watching the movie but he hasn’t missed a bit on 3D.
Earlier this week, we chanced upon swimming in the beach. With my son by my side, I chanced upon teaching him about the nature of sea waves and the means to cope with incremental nature & incessant changes, “Changes hit us all through our lives, avoid the impact of waves by facing it sideways!”
I cautioned him about the unceasing sea waves, just like another father. And just like a teenager, he shrugged me off! He uttered, “You can’t avoid it, you need to learn facing the waves, and you need to balance yourself by alternating the weight on your legs.”
It dawned upon me that change is not about the caution against the impact of change, it’s about “facing” the change and finding a way to “balance” as we face it.
I remembered J. K. Rowling saying, “It is impossible to live without failing at something, unless you live so cautiously that you might as well not have lived at all – in which case, you fail by default.”
I am proud of my son. He is a Spider-Man fan.
